Conficker, a computer worm which is also known famously as Downup, Downadup and Kido, with lots of other names also contributing to it's fame, has been given the title of the largest computer worm the SQL Slammer of year 2003. Conficker was first detected in October 2008 with Microsoft Windows Operating systems set as it's target.


Even after Microsoft released an emergency out-of-band patch in late October to close the vulnerability which paved the way for Conficker, a large sector of the internet/computer population, that were left unpatched allowed the Conficker to attain the first position in the list of the most dangerous worms at the present.
